Network ETHOS
Funded by Riksbankens jubileumsfond 2010-2012, 285 000 SEK
The members of the network ETHOS are a group of senior and junior researchers and master students from universities and university colleges in the Nordic countries. In Sweden from Uppsala university, Göteborg University and Mälardalen University. In Norway from University of Bergen and from Denmark from DPU, Aarhus University. Their research fields are within Medicine, Educational Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. They join in their interest in medical/educational boundary areas and in a mission to develop theory on social practices - praxeology, in particular regarding semi-professions.
The aims of the network ETHOS are:
- develop a new research area with Nordic references and develop research on:
-semiprofessions and their social recruitment, higher education, practices and life trajectories
-educational practices within a) medicine, caring, rehabilitation b) The field of Reproduction - pre-school, compulsory school, secondary school, higher education and folkbildning, c) the field of Technology and Natural Science and the school subjects relationship to the subjects within the academy (physics, mathematics)
-the development of knowledge in the boundary areas between medicine, education and social science, especially in relation to knowledge producation towards evidence based practices and New public management
-social domination (class, gender, normality) within and between tha professional groups
- In addition, to establish an official and institutional basis for its' members in order to offer a dynamic and enriched research environment, in spite of the geographic distances, and create a recruitment base for future doctoral students
- enhance knowledge exchange, communication between researchers from Education, Caring Sciences, Social work and different universities in the Nordic countries with similar research interests and theoretical approach
- develop research applications and funding with a national as well as international perspectives and Nordic comparative studies
