Workshop 16–17 Oct 2025

Education and training of the entrepreneurial elite: life paths and world views

Time: 16–17 Oct 2025.
Venue: Université de Lausanne, Suisse.

The workshop aims to bring together young researchers working in the emerging field of research on the intersection of the academic and business fields, particularly in the context of business schools and their students.

The two-day workshop will be attended by approximately ten PhD-level participants. Each participant will have the opportunity to present their work at different stages and receive constructive feedback in a supportive environment. The workshop will be structured into sessions, each chaired by a senior researcher. There will be no parallel sessions. Participants will be asked to give a short presentation of approximately 15 minutes. In addition, a senior researcher in the field will deliver a keynote speech. The workshop will be held in both English and French.

The workshop will be co-organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre of Life Course Research (LIVES-ISS), the Swiss Elite Observatory (OBELIS) and the Research Centre for Political Action (CRAPUL-IEP). The main organizers are Johanna Behr, Felix Bühlmann, Olivier Fillieule and Nicolas Lenci. It will take place at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.

We invite scholars who study socialisation of current or former business schools’ students, with a focus on the interplay between cultural and economic capital. This workshop will emphasize > the transition from university to the professional world, exploring how students and graduates navigate this shift.

We invite submissions of abstracts (maximum 500 words) related to one of the three research axes. The submission deadline is May 30, 2025.
